Popular for his comedic and dramatic roles, he's one of the most admired and well-known film actors worldwide and is considered an American popular culture icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the father of Janet Marylyn, a hospital worker, as well as Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). The family of his mother, initially surnamed "Fraga" and was 100% Portuguese, while his father was of mostly English ancestry. Tom was raised in the family he refers to as "fractured".
